Practice: I Am Precious

There are many competing messages we hear in our lives. Some of those messages may suggest that our value is measured by looks or wealth or age or success or something else. Each of us is precious simply because we are. I have attached a recording of a preciousness practice.

Essentially, take a moment to repeat these words to yourself: “I am precious.” How do you receive those words? Do they resonate deeply or do these words bring objections from within you? Where do those objections or resonances arise? Are there memories that you attach negative or positive feelings about self?

Keep practicing. Learn to accept your preciousness; give yourself the benefit of the doubt. Recognize and name (perhaps in your journal or with a friend or professional counselor) what makes you feel precious or not-precious. Work through the origin of the feelings.

Pondering Endings Thoughts and Practice

There are many endings that come our way in life. Some are anticipated; some surprise us. For the ending we can anticipate before they come, how might we draw what we have learned out of the experience to end well?
