Beginnings

As I pondered #endings, there was also a place to consider #beginnings. I do not believe there are “correct ways” to begin as much as more mindful ways to begin.

When preparation is possible, ask some questions of yourself.

  • What am I anticipating as I begin this new adventure?
  • What excites me about this beginning?
  • What concerns me about this beginning?
  • Why am I beginning this new venture? Is the why about learning something, “paying the bills,” helping someone or helping others generally, or some other reason?
  • As this new adventure begins, how will I show up? What are the patterns I tend to follow in new situations? Can I be more intentional about how I show up, more mindful of being present in the moment?
  • Is there something I can do as preparation for this beginning?

When preparation for a new beginning is not possible, here are several suggestions.

  • Breathe. Catch your breath to bring yourself into the moment mindfully.
  • Feel your feet. Feel your feet grounded on the floor. Let yourself be grounded.
  • Let go. Whatever thoughts and feelings rush into consciousness, let them go.
  • Trust yourself. You are here, now. You are enough.

There are many endings that come our way in life. Some are anticipated; some surprise us. For the ending we can anticipate before they come, how might we draw what we have learned out of the experience to end well?

  2. Self in The Story
  3. Faith in Life-Part1
  4. Releasing Disappointment
  5. Giving Thanks as Practice
